SHERWELL MANUFACTURING
Founded by Raymond George Sherwell in Nhill, Victoria Australia (1962)
Sherwell Manufacturing Pty Ltd. was an agricultural engineering company established in Nhill, Victoria, Australia by Raymond George Sherwell in the early 1960’s. From modest beginnings, the business grew to become one of the most significant regional manufacturing enterprises in western Victoria, producing bulk grain handling equipment that was used throughout Australia.
Among the most notable developments was Raymonds Sherwell’s invention of the PTO Field Bin, an innovation that improved the efficiency of grain harvesting operations by enabling on-farm handling and transport of harvested grain to the farmers advantage.
At its peak, Sherwell Manufacturing Pty Ltd. employed a substantial local workforce, and played an important economic role in the Nhill District and surrounding regions. Equipment manufactured by the company was eventually distributed nationally, and due to the high build standard demanded by the company, Sherwell Field Bins, Silos and Augers continue to be found in use across Australia today.
